Add a custom connector
On Free, Pro and Max: Customize → Connectors → Add custom connector, then paste the URL. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner adds it in Organization settings → Connectors, then each member connects.

Select Connect. Claude opens the HireLayer sign-in page: log in or create a free account (50 credits a month, no card) and allow access.

Attached files on claude.ai
Claude reads attached files itself and can pass the resume text to HireLayer. To parse the original files (PDF, scans), use the local server or a public file URL.
Long resumes in Claude Code
Claude Code saves very long tool results to a file instead of the conversation. A full resume text can pass that size; Claude then reads the file when it needs it.
Team and Enterprise
Only Owners can add custom connectors to an organization. Members then conect with their own HireLayer account.
Not yet in the directory
HireLayer is added as a custom connector by URL. It is not listed in Anthropic’s connector directory yet.

HireLayer and Claude: questions
Can Claude screen resumes?
Yes. With the HireLayer connector, Claude extracts criteria from your job description and scores each candidate from 0 to 1 with an explanation per criterion, or ranks up to 10 candidates in one call.
Does it work on the free Claude plan?
Yes. Claude’s Free plan allows one custom connector. Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise allow more.
Do I need an API key?
Not for the hosted connector: Claude signs in with OAuth and calls are billed to your HireLayer plan. The local npx server uses an API key.
Can I use HireLayer in Claude Code?
Yes. Run claude mcp add --transport http hirelayer https://hirelayer.co/mcp, then /mcp to sign in. Developers often use it to prototype a HireLayer integration with real responses.
Are resumes stored?
The hosted server never stores resume files. The parsed data is returned to Claude in the tool result.
