Job Recommendation API that finds the open jobs closest to a resume

Send a resume as a stored application_id, a text or a file. HireLayer Job Recommendations looks through the open jobs stored in your workspace and returns their job_ids and titles, closest first, each with a similarity. Send the jobs you choose to Resume Scorer for the evidence.

Capabilities

What the Job Recommendation API returns

Problems it solves

  • Candidates browse every job

A candidate who uploads a CV still scrolls through listings that have nothing to do with their profile.

  • Titles do not tell the fit

Matching on job titles alone misses the jobs that need the same experience under another name.

  • A rejected candidate is a lost one

A candidate not kept for one job could fit another open role, but nobody checks the other openings.

  • 01

    The resume as the query

Send a stored application_id, a resume text or a resume file: a new resume is parsed and stored on the way.

  • 02

    Open jobs, closest first

Up to 100 job_ids with their titles, ranked by similarity to the resume, 10 by default.

  • 03

    Only jobs that still hire

Jobs marked closed are left out, so a recommendation is always an open job.

  • 04

    Already scored, flagged

already_scored tells which jobs this resume is scored, or being scored, for; scoring it again costs nothing, unless a score is stale or its verdict was reset.

  • 05

    One catalog per client company

Recommendations come from the jobs of one HireLayer-Workspace, so each customer’s jobs stay apart.

  • 06

    Then the evidence

Send the resume and a chosen job to Resume Scorer for a score, a verdict and the evidence for each criterion.

Questions

Job Recommendation API questions

Answers based on the current API contract.

What does the Job Recommendation API return?

The open jobs of your workspace, closest to the resume first: each with its job_id, its title, a rank, a similarity from 0 to 1 and already_scored. There is no explanation. Score the jobs you choose with Resume Scorer to get a verdict and evidence for each criterion.

Which jobs can be recommended?

The open jobs stored in the workspace named by the HireLayer-Workspace header: every job sent to Job Criteria Extractor or Resume Scorer. A job marked closed is left out.

Can I send a resume file?

Yes. Send it as multipart form data in file: it is parsed and stored as Resume Parser would store it, for 1 more credit. A resume already stored only needs its application_id.

Is similarity a matching score?

No. similarity says how close a job is to the resume compared with the other results of the same search. It does not check criteria and cannot be compared from one search to another. The score that says how well the resume meets a job comes from Resume Scorer.

How do I explain a recommendation to the candidate?

Score the resume against the recommended job with Resume Scorer: its summary and the explanation of each criterion say why the job fits, in the job’s language.

How is Job Recommendations billed?

1 credit per search, plus 1 when the resume comes as a file. Scoring the jobs you pick is billed by Resume Scorer: 1 credit per resume evaluated, 0 for a pair already scored.
